A cleansing bath ritual for the New Moon is the perfect time to relax, reflect, and set your intentions for what you want to create this month.
2022 has all the feelings of being a powerful year, good or bad. It will definitely depend on what you make it. Keep in mind, now is not the time to give your power away to the whims of others. We’re just getting started. You don’t want to get wrapped up in the rush to set goals, especially if they have an energy of shoulds or ought tos.
Just like the new moon, January is just the beginning, a time to plant the seeds that you will nurture throughout the year. So don’t feel like you have to get all the things done at once either. Set yourself up for success. Be thoughtful about your creation process, and break it down. We’ll need the energy to sustain us through the rest of the year. As I said, it’s going to be a big one.
January New Moon Energy
This first new moon of the year, Sunday, January 2nd, kicks us off with a bang. But in what direction? My intuition says don’t rely on your old ways of getting things done. There’s no need to be a workhorse and power through this year, but action is required. I’m talking to all of my fellow Human Design Generators out there, as well as the other types who feel like they want to keep up with that kind of energy
It’s time for a more intuitive + feminine touch. But that doesn’t mean just sitting back. Although the new moon is a time to relax and look within, taking inspired action is going to play a big part in starting to fulfill your desires this month. Keep that in mind when you begin to slide back into your old ways of doing things. In addition, this new perspective is going to feel majorly uncomfortable as we navigate what it means to listen to our intuition.

I know I’m not always used to going with the flow and listening to my gut.
But intuition is a major player in the energy of this year, so no need to worry if you don’t know exactly why you’re feeling pulled to take a certain action. Start small and work your way through it one step at a time. As you get the hang of it, you’ll be more confident in going with the flow. If you get stuck in old patterning you’ll be more equipped to recognize it sooner and adjust. The more you practice leaning into what the Universe is sending your way, the easier it gets.
If you’re a Harry Potter fan like me, just think of following your intuition like when he took the Felix Felicis “Liquid Luck” potion. He wasn’t sure why he felt pulled to visit Hagrid but he trusted it and it brought him down the right path, lol.

Ritual Bath Frequently Asked Question
When is the January new moon?
Sunday, January 2, 2022, is the first new moon of the year.
How do I set an intention?
Setting an intention is writing down whatever is meaningful for you. I like to start with a short 5-minute meditation (you can pick one on Youtube that you like) to help me quiet my mind and get ready to listen.
- First, get your journal out and something to write with, a piee of paper works just fine as well.
- After your meditation, if you choose to do one, close your eyes and take a few deep breaths.
- Second, begin to feel your desires come to the surface, don’t think too hard about it, you don’t want your mind getting in the way.
- I usually write down the first thing that comes in to “view” for me.
- Third, ask the Universe for help if you’re sturggling. Sometimes, especially if we’re new to this kind of experience, our mind can get really loud and we start to overthink and judge our desires. That’s okay, just try to relax and don’t force it.
Above all, don’t overcomplicate the process. Intentions can be anything you want there’s no need for it to be a huge project. Think of what you’re wanting to create for the year and make an intention to take action on a small piece of that.
Remember, New Moon energy is about starting a new adventure, planting seeds, and calling in the new energy that you desire. The idea is that you will nurture the intentions you set throughout the month.
When should I do my cleansing bath ritual?
I enjoy taking my ritual baths before bedtime. You can take your bath at any time during the day. But since you’ll already be in a relaxed state, it’s easy to fall asleep and let your subconscious mind and the Universe get to work on your co-creation. Furthermore, it also leads to a night of deep relaxing sleep so you’ll be ready to take inspired action when you wake up in the morning.

How long should my bath be?
Your ritual bath can be as short or as long as you like. Oftentimes we look at rituals like another thing to add to our to-do list and we never seem to get to them. Make your ritual bath time work for you and take as long or as little as you like. However, you’ll get the most out of your soak if you spend at least 20 minutes in the bath.
What do I do after my bath?
If you had any thoughts, downloads, or ideas that came up during your bath take a few moments to write them down so you can reflect on what came up later. Give thanks to the Universe for any messages you received.
What is the significance of the ritual bath ingredients?
Water | The very nature of water is cleansing and purifying. Bathing or even showering with an intention is a great way to show yourself some love. Water literally washes away energy that is no longer serving you and gives you some time to relax.
Coconut Milk | Cooling to the skin, coconut milk is moisturizing and helps to soothe any skin irritations that you might have. It’s also super luxurious and an easy and inexpensive way to feel like a goddess. Just ask Cleopatra.
Why coconut milk? You can certainly use high-quality full-fat cow’s milk. For me, it’s a preference. You typically won’t find dairy products in my fridge and coconut milk is my go-to alternative.
Honey | Along with its antimicrobial properties honey is a must-have for natural beauty products. Honey is moisturizing to the skin and will leave you feeling silky soft and smelling a little sweet.

Essential Oil Benefits
Ylang Ylang Essential Oil | Ylang Ylang actually means flower of flowers and has a strong sweet floral scent. According to Dr. Axe, Ylang Ylang is “heart-opening”. In addition, Ylang Ylang can bring on stronger feelings of awareness, confidence, peace, and self-love. It’s also good for helping you retain a youthful glow.
Lavender Essential Oil | With its sweet, floral, and herbal aroma, Lavender is probably one of the most popular essential oils. And is most well known for its ability to calm and relax. I love Lavender in this cleansing bath ritual because it plays an important role in helping you to destress, wind down, and prepare you for sleep.
Hope-Filled Flower Essence Blend | Flower essences are one of my favorite tools for changing perspective. They help you to rewrite old stories and create clarity around new ideas. Perfect for a New Moon bath ritual.
I chose our Hope-Filled Blend, created from Calendula, Pansy, and Nasturtium essences, because it will assist you in clearing out old negative energy. Furthermore, it can also help to soothe any energetic irritations you might have been carrying with you. In addition, you’ll begin to release any heaviness that is no longer serving you while bringing vitality to your life force.
What if I can’t find or don’t have some of the ingredients?
No worries. I encourage you to use items you already have at home or improvise with ingredients you feel energetically called to use. Remember, the goal of your New Moon cleansing ritual bath is to de-stress, relax, slow down, and plant the seeds for growth. If all you have is a warm bath and a hot cup of tea, that’s perfect.
Above all, your intention is the most important part of any ritual.
Remember, this bath is for you, so make it your own. Do what feels right for you and what brings you the most joy. After all, this is why we create experiences like this for ourselves. It’s a part of our self-care, opening the doors to new perspectives, and connecting with ourselves on a new adventure.
The point is to look within, God has already given us everything we need. Creating a beautiful ritual bath for yourself is an amazing way to nourish that connection and co-create with His guidance.
