1 c fresh lemon juice, bottled is fine too
4 c cold filtered water, the better the water the better the lemonade
1/2 c agave, you can use a light colored honey if you like
Method
Mix all ingredients in a glass pitcher and store in the refrigerator until you’re ready to use.
To make summer lemonades, add syrup to glass, amount to taste, I use between 1/2 to 1 oz. Fill glass with ice, top with lemonade, and garnish with edible flowers.

Lemonade Syrups
Prickly Pear Syrup Ingredients
3/4 c prickly pear juice, you can purchase pre-made syrup at the store or you can pick your own prickly pear and make your own juice.
1 c honey
Method
In small sauce pan add all ingredients and bring to a boil over medium high heat. Once syrup begins to boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove syrup from heat and pour into a heatproof glass jar. Allow syrup to cool completely before storing in the refrigerator. Syrup will keep refrigerated for 7-10 days.
If you’re harvesting your own prickly pear, make sure the plant you are harvesting from has not been sprayed with any pesticides. It’s also important to note that you don’t want to pick from plants that live near a roadway, as the exhaust and fumes from traveling cars effects the fruit. Also make sure that you have permission to harvest prickly pears, check your local and state laws for harvesting prickly pears, most of the time it’s fine if your just harvesting for personal use. Finally, and this is a big one, only harvest what you need. When harvesting from wild plants please be mindful that this is food for many animals, and if we take more from the land then we need to, we’re are putting stress on the local echo system. Before harvesting, ask the plants permission and don’t take everything from a single plant, give thanks for their offering and show gratitude for what you’ve been provided. Remember, we’re all connected to the land and should give more than we take.
